Fairy Tales Series

This group of paintings was painted between 2005 and 2007. "Lucy" was the first painting created in the series, and acted asthe catalyst for every painting that followed. This series focused on issues such as transition, journey, identity, and femininity. My time spent creating these pieces could be likened to a journey through my internal landscape, during which time I got to know the environments and characters that exist in my world.

Apparitions Series

The work in the Apparitions series was done in 2007/ 2008.  Now well acquainted with the styles and personalities of my characters, I took them with me as I began to further explore my interior world.   Considering the aesthetics of European church history; archaic tribal practices; and ubiquitous, global human inclinations, I explored in these paintings questions regarding spirituality, the nature of reality, and consciousness.

Wonderland Series

The first pieces from Wonderland began towards the end of 2008, as I was preparing for a trip to the Amazon jungle in Peru.  Those pieces, and the ones I began after my return, focus on themes of exploration, determination, perseverance, and optimism.  I remain inspired by these sources and am currently working on additions to this series.

Underground Dance Party Series

This group of paintings is a study and celebration of natural forms. Each piece is done on reclaimed scrap wood, with exposed wood grain, creating an organic and atmospheric backdrop for the lively and  natural subject matter.                     The title of the series is a pun.
