When I make art it is an experience of transcendance. The world and it's troubles stop, and I am free to explore patterns, archetypes, symbolism and poetry. In the creative state, my only conerns are questions of beauty and intrigue. I am particularly drawn to the human figure, for it's ability to express emotion and mood. Natural, desolate, and carnivalesque settings are recurring themes, because they are environments I am naturally drawn to and I feel they serve as powerful and versatile metaphores.
I believe there is great importance in the communicative power that art has, that we can show each other things that we cannot say. I share my art with the hope of speaking to the viewer about the things that often go unsaid, about our connection, about the wonder of being, and the great presence of mystery.
