Time Pieces

The Dream Machine (A Fractal Time Machine)

Created for Trickster Arts Salon's Time Travel Tea Party.

I built "The Dream Machine (A Fractal Time Machine)" as a method of giving people an experience with infinity.

4'x4' around and 5' high, the interior walls, door, roof and floor of the structure were lined enirely in mirror, with fractal shapes of tin foil adorning the edges and corners, creating complex mandals that repeated infinitely.

Instructions were posted on the exterior of the "machine" which directed people to safety gloves, a flashlight, and a large glowing heart, for their journey into the infinite.

Thanks to Julia Sanguis for the photos!

The Time is Now!

"On August 6, 2010, a group of young Bay Area artists met to create content for this book.  The 48 hour project took place at 580 Valencia St in  San Francisco, California, a Levi's sponsored pop-up print shop."....

I was invited to participate in "Strangers," a conceptual project in which a group of Bay area artists, most of whom had never met, were invited to converge for any portion of a designated 48 hours, to contirbute our individual ideas, styles, mediums, et al., which would be be documented, and immortalized in limited edition books commemorating the experience of the 2 day experiement. The space was open to the public as the artists worked.

From onsite sculpture creation, print making, muscial performance, an interactive sewing project, and performance art, The themes and approaches were all over the map, resulting in 48 hours of lively creative exploration and expression.

My Contribution to this project was a performance piece I titled "The Time is Now!"

see pictures from the experience, and to read about the concepts behind the piece.
